Triond Is Still Better Than Wikinut

At least for me.

A good Stumbleupon friend of mine and a moderator at Wikinut finally convinced me to join the site last month.  Wikinut is almost the same as Triond and more importantly, it has the creative writing category. Although Wikinut has the same plain blue design in all category sites, a user can make his article page more attractive by adding pictures.

Wikinut does not return articles, but they publish content that had been published in other sites as long as it is owned by the same writer.  I have managed to edit 16 of my articles from Triond and Factoidz and published them here. I also wrote two original works for Wikinut. I joined the community and so far, had 42 followers.

I have made friends with some people- Songbird and Denise, two charming ladies; Buzz, a friendly kababayan’; and geeta auroa, a sweet young friend. Minister Marlene is there too. These writers among the others were very friendly and helpful to me.

Unfortunately, after doing all the promotions and posting quality articles and studying my stats/ earnings, I found out that Wikinut pays so little.

I did some Math with Triond in comparison to Wikinut and was finally convinced that Wikinut won’t work for me.

How to Get More Views with Your Poems

Like most Triond user, I started my way here as a creative writer, submitting my content in the short-story category. While there had been one to three views a day, it had been frustrating for me to discover zero views all the time. I often ask myself, how can readers find me?

So, like any other newbie, I was spammed by other users checking this, reading that, commenting his or her article just to have someone read my work in return. After learning slowly the ways here in the net, I discovered that most writers do not read stories especially if it’s 3 or more pages long. They just give the ‘nice article’, ‘awesome read’, then after some time they do not check your work anymore.

Shifting from creative writings to solid facts material was a struggle for me. Over time, I did succeed in publishing articles that earn. I didn’t stop writing fiction though. But instead of creating short stories, I decided to write poems.

With poems, we get to have views as soon as they are published, especially when we have many friends and we are active in the community. The problem with poems is they do not have constant views compared to non-fiction posts like medical, health, celebrities and other searchable articles in the net. Fortunately, we may still have continuous views with our poems.

Issue: Red-eared Slider Turtle and Salmonella Infection

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that causes food-borne illness. This illness (salmonella infection or salmonellosis) usually includes the symptoms of diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.

Salmonella are transmitted via consumption of contaminated food usually of animal origin like poultry, eggs and meat. Reptiles as turtles are also said to cause salmonella infection.

With a red-eared turtle, such infection is attained mostly by children through improper handling and hygienic reasons.

• Keep the area of the turtle clean

 Salmonella bacteria tend to linger to a Red-eared Sliders surroundings. By keeping the area clean, risks of Salmonella infection can be lessen.

• Wash your hands thoroughly after handling a Red-eared Slider

 Washing the hands is the number one rule in keeping oneself sanitary. However, do not wash merely with water. Wash your hands with soap, scrubbing vigorously from the wrists down to your finger tips for about 20 seconds.

• Talk to your kids about salmonella infection

 Give your kids a warning about the salmonella infection and its consequences. Inform them on how to handle a red-eared the proper way (not putting them in the mouth, kissing them or cuddling them) and more importantly; be responsible in reminding them to wash their hands all the time.

• Unregistered imported and physician sample purchase

This is the most common strategy. Unregistered imported and physician sample can be illegal but they can be bargained for almost half of their selling price and even lesser.

• Near expiration bargains

Most drug products nearing their ‘birthday’, usually three months before are bargained very cheaply. The term illegal would be applied if these celebrants are sold after their expiration dates.

• Expired medicine sold out…Waste not!

Why throw out an expired tablet when you can still sell it to an unsuspecting customer? This strategy works well especially when the owner doesn’t believe in expiry dates.

Drug-Drug Interactions with The Cyp3a4 Isozyme

Enzyme inhibition leads to the slow metabolism of the drugs.  This causes greater serum concentration and toxicity. An example is Ethinyl estradiol (an active constituent in birth control pills) with grape fruit juice. Grape fruit juice is a drug inhibitor of CYP3A4 Isoezyme. With this interaction grapefruit juice tends to increase the incidence of adverse reactions in Ethinyl estradiol as gastric upsets or headaches.

On the other hand, enzyme inducers hasten the biodegration of drugs. With this, efficacy of the medicine is decreased. The rifampicin (drug for tuberculosis) for instance, will lessen the effect of a contraceptive pill.

Reasons Not To Buy Old Computers

• Operators or owners won’t admit of on how long they have been keeping these second hand PCs

Malls or surplus computer shops would cite their old PCs as ‘slightly used’ or re-possessed. But they won’t reveal if these PCs had been in the shelves for years. Agents would reason, ‘The owner changed his mind about his laptop and decided to buy another brand. It’s really new, still not over a year since the owner bought it and he hasn’t used it.’

• No warranties

As a rule, new products as electronic types have warranties. In case something goes wrong with a new PC, you can replace or have it fixed. Old PCs from other people have no warranties. A surplus or a second hand PC from legitimate stores may have warranties but only for some period of time as 6 months.

• Hardware and software incompatibilities

Just like cellular phones and other electronic gadgets, PCs improve over time. And with this, are hardware replacements. While an old PC hardware (Motherboard, processor, video card etc.) is often phased out, new software (Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Windows etc.) could have incompatibility issues with an old hardware.

Daphne Oral Contraceptive Tablet: A Product Review

Daphne with the generic name Lynestrenol is a progestin only oral contraceptive. It is manufactured by Family Care Ltd and distributed by DKT Philippines Inc.

A Daphne pack consists of 28 white tablets, each containing a 500mcg Lynestrenol. As a contraceptive tablet, Daphne is usually indicated for women whom estrogens are contraindicated and for breast feeding mothers who require contraception.

However, Lynestrenol containing tablet like Daphne is contraindicated with women with undiagnosed vaginal bleeding or with someone with a history or current high risk of arterial disease. It should be avoided in women with hepatic impairment, especially if severe. And more to these, Daphne should not be given in women with porphyria.

Sex allergy is referred to as semen allergy, also known as human seminal plasma hypersensitivity or sperm allergy. Research shows that certain women can be allergic to a man’s sperm. And interestingly, some men can be allergic to their own semen as well.

Documentation: A Multi-organ Dysfunction Case

Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), previously known as multiple organ failure (MOF) is the presence of altered organ function in acutely ill patients such that homeostasis cannot be maintained without intervention. It usually involves two or more organ systems.

Over the years, the women have proven their value not only at home but also in the society as leaders, educators, dedicated employees and even in the field of physical prowess and science. Some men regard them as nuisance competitors, the others think of them as unsuitable, dominating partners. And yet we wonder, can these modern women be that bad?

My poem Emptiness Lyrics was a trial and error article. I got interested in the title and played with the tags. However, it was not included in the most searched 'emptiness lyrics'. Probably, because the searchers are still smart not to open the 'lyrics' they are not looking for :P

Anyway, I find my effort not wasted for I had been motivated to write poems again. It's been awhile since I last wrote a good one.

Kamay ni Hesus de Lucban - A Wonderful Visit

The Kamay Ni Hesus Shrine wherein the grotto of Via Dolorosa can be found is an hour drive from Lucena- the Quezon province capital. We had heard the place so many times that my husband and I finally decided to check it out during the last week of February 2010. It was about ten thirty in the morning when we reached the shrine.

The climate was terribly hot but it had seemed that we forgot all about it upon entering the holy place. Not that we were fascinated by the wonderful landscaping and the life-like images of some Biblical characters that took our attention along the main entrance, but far something more.

Quack-Doctors Writing Rx

A quack-doctor or an albularyo is the Philippine version for the Native American Indians, ‘Shaman’ or the witch-doctor in Africa. They are also known to drive evil spirits away and cure people through spells, holy oil and medicinal plants.

Modern medicine may have influenced the Philippines with the finest medical care and advanced approach in treatment, however there are still some provinces that rely on quack-doctors. Instead of seeing a real physician, they wait in line to be diagnosed by an albularyo. No fees required here but donations. Quack-doctors claim that their healing power come from divine entities that it is a service for them to help those in need without asking for money.

There is nothing wrong in having faith on these spiritual healers. Their practice has been beneficial throughout the centuries. The bad thing about it is when quack-doctors prescribe a synthetic drug.

Child Labor Defined

We normally understand child labor as kids doing harsh job in unlikely places. We hear this harassment in news – children working in mines or those in factories manufacturing firecrackers, some unforgivable acts, especially when their health and their very lives had already been affected or worst, taken.

Household chores are exempted from child labor but when kids are involved in family business – their education and others privileges affected, this becomes child labor.

How to Gain Article Traffic

Writing in the net is not the same as writing for books or newspapers. On-line writers normally promote their own stuff, unlike with novelists, JK Rowling or Stephen King. Paper back, hard bound, newspaper writers have their own conveniences that they have their own publishers and marketers.
