In the Philippines, the month of November has been declared as
Filariasis Treatment Month. Residents, especially children two years old and
above are advised to participate in the program. However, although most people
are grateful for the free medicines, there are still some reluctant to use the
preventive drugs for their children. These parents are worried about the side
effects. One resident has even found the idea of giving a 400mg albendazole
tablet for her 4 year old child alarming.
